I am in the Club!!!!

I don't know what is more exciting: that 3 grade 6 boys invited me to join their team to design a mod for Minecraft or that I understood what they were asking!!!

  1. Thanks for your blog Heidi,
I am in the process of working out how to integrate an opportunity to use Minecraft in my school with an Inquiry unit focusing on Innovation and Change. I think it will work, but I need to learn more first. Your blog is a great part of my learning process.

  2. I can't recommend introducing gaming enough. It is fascinating to observe and learn from the students. One person who I highly recommend you follow as you begin this exploration is Melanie McBride from Ryerson University's Edgelab. http://melaniemcbride.net/
She's made me think a great deal about the thinking process of gamers. Let me know how it goes!

  3. I will also add this: that unless one actually becomes a gamer, one will never really understand the why of gaming. And if you don't understand, how can you possibly use it effectively? Gaming is not meant to be "taught". Gamers don't want to be taught. Gaming doesn't need to be taught. That's key to the introduction of Minecraft in school.
